FAQs:

What on earth is a stickybeak?
Stickybeak is an Australian slang term for an inquisitive person, but it is used affectionately when
referring to children. A rough translation would be a Curious George.

About our clothes
Stickybeak Kids clothes are hand designed and handcrafted in small quantities. This means that
variations will occur and makes our clothes unique. We inspect each item to ensure quality.

Maintaining the natural beauty and feel of our clothes is important. We recommend that you wash with
eco-friendly or mild detergent, and use low or no heat for washing and drying to minimize fading and
shrinking. Even better, you can line dry inside-out and in the shade for happier clothes and a happier
earth.

Why should I buy organic clothing?
In essence, organic is better for your family and better for the earth. With allergies on the increase,
organic just makes sense when you think of your child's sensitive skin.

Organic fabric is made from the ground up. Using natural and untreated that have not been genetically
modified, crops are grown in healthy soil utilizing responsible crop rotation. Weeds and pests are
managed naturally without the use of potentially dangerous pesticides and insecticides.

Only low-impact fiber-reactive dyes are used (meaning that the dyes are not bonded with the fibers
through heat using heavy metals and sulfur). Fabric print ink is low-impact water-based. This ensures
that Stickybeak Kids clothes are pure and safe, and that harmful chemicals are not released into the
environment.

Some of the fabrics we use are “color grown” meaning that the color of the crop is used, and no dyes
are added, allowing the beauty of nature to shine through.

What do “low-impact fiber-reactive dyes” and “low-impact water-based ink” mean?
Conventional fabric dyeing involves using high temperatures with heavy metals and sulfur content. Low-
impact fiber-reactive dyes or natural dyes use low metal and sulfur content.

Conventional fabric printing pigments may be petroleum based and contain heavy metals. Runoff
pollutes waterways. Low-impact water-based ink contains no heavy metals.

Better for your family and the environment.

What do you mean by “fair trade”?
Stickybeak Kids is committed to fair trade. When we use partners, we choose those who are committed
to a safe, healthy, non-abusive and non-discriminatory work environment, do not use child labor, and pay
employees living wages.
